Action spectrum » Onco-Preventive and Anticarcinogenic Effect
EnergoIod preparation shows powerful onco-preventive effect associated with particular effects of EnergoIod on organism: antioxidant effect - protection of membranes and, as a consequence, genetic apparatus of cells against toxic damage by free radicals; antimutagenic effect - prevention of changes in genetic apparatus of cells (mutations) leading to canceration; adaptogenic effect - improvement of body defence against unfavorable environmental factors; anticarcinogenic effect - ability to bind carcinogens and eliminate them from organism; antimetastatic effect - prevention of cancer cells seeding in other organs and tissues; antiestrogenic effect - prevention of hormone-dependent tumors of female reproductive organs; anti-inflammatory effect gives indirect antitumor effect because large number of free radicals is generated in inflammatory processes creating favourable conditions for tumor growth; immunomodulating effect - normalization of increased or decreased functions of immune system, cytostatic effect - inhibition of tumor growth.
In general use of iodine helps to reduce risk of cancer of thyroid gland, mammary gland and stomach.
Let’s review the mechanisms of anticarcinogenic effect of iodine complex in these three organs.
Iodine shows antioxidant effect in the tissues of thyroid gland, mammary glands and stomach. Phylogenetically thyroid gland cells originated from primitive gastroenteric cells able to concentrate iodine. In the course of evolution these cells migrated and specialized in capture and storage of iodine with the aim of adapting organism to shift from marine environment rich in iodine to iodine-deficient earthly environment.
Cells of mammary glands also originated from ectodermal cells able to concentrate iodine. Thus stomach, mammary glands and thyroid gland are parts of organism which obtained an essential property of concentrating and accumulating iodine in the course of evolution. Cells of these three organs contain active peroxidase enzymes which transfer electrons from iodides to oxy peroxide ions in such a way protecting cells against damage caused by lipid peroxidation. Iodide can perform inherited antioxidant function in all cells able to concentrate iodine.
Antitumoral effect is associated with ability of active iodine compound to inhibit or suppress growth of cell cultures and activate antitumoral mechanisms of immune system. This property of iodine was discovered long ago but it was not used for therapeutic purposes due to toxicity of traditional iodine containing preparations.
EnergoIod Concentrate is nontoxic. All the preparation’s anitumoral effects are divided into direct and indirect.
Direct ones are connected with ability to affect directly tumor cells, their growth and differentiation. Direct antitumoral effects: Suppression of synthesis of RNA. Suppression of synthesis of proteins. Promotion of maturation of undifferentiated cells. Enhancement of expression of membrane antigens of tumor cells and receptors to hormones. Disturbance of vasoformative processes. Neutralization of oncoviruses. Suppression of tumor growth factors. Indirect effects are connected with enhancement of immunocompetent cells’ ability to detect and destroy abnormal cells in organism.
Indirect antitumoral effects: Stimulation of activity of immune cells (macrophages, NK cells, cytotoxic T lymphocytes). Enhancement of expression on the cells of I class histocompatibility molecules.
Antitumoral effects of EnergoIod preparation are based upon the ability to bind carcinogens and eliminate them from organism, prevent spreading of tumor cells in other organs and tissues and inhibit tumor growth.
